Birthdays have always been really important to me. I believe that everyone should get the opportunity to feel special for the day. Even if that means completing weird requests or making sure that no one rains on their parade.
I’m going to be doing a mini-series that features birthday celebrations and ideas about how to celebrate birthdays in different cities! Last year I celebrated my birthday in New York and this year I will be celebrating in New Orleans. To kick off the series, I will be featuring Amanda’s birthday and how we celebrated it in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Last weekend, my favorite girls and I got together to celebrate Amanda’s birthday. Amanda is a dear friend of mine who I got particularly close with my last year of undergrad. She’s incredibly talented, supportive, and all around fun person to be around (check out her blog here!)
Why Fredericksburg? Fredericksburg will always hold a special place in the heart of my friend group. It is the place where all of us met and became close friends as we learned how to navigate the world. Though a few of us have since left the ‘burg (or often referred to as simply “Fred”), we often use it as a meeting point have mini reunions. Amanda crafted a great itinerary for celebrating her birthday in this one of a kind city.

A few of us started our day by getting our nails done at the cutest salon. Holy Chic provided the greatest ambiance while we caught up, shared good news, and treated ourselves to fall nails.
The staff was super friendly and I look forward to going back.
I chose the Signature Chic manicure which came with my choice one of the yummy smelling sugar scrubs. The scrub and moisturizing treatment left my skin feeling so soft! In addition, Holy Chic uses nontoxic polishes and new tools to ensure the sanitation of their services. I look forward to returning for their Signature Gel service. I was informed that they use a special steam technique to remove gel polish that I am interested in trying (hopefully it will be gentler than an acetone or scraping gel polish removal).
After pampering (and a chick-fil-a run) we checked into a hotel room at the Hyatt Place. It was important to us that we could have a place that we could all go back to instead of having to go our separate ways. I’ve stayed at that Hyatt a couple of times in the past and it has always been a nice, comfortable, and convenient place to stay.
Next, we headed over to Sedona Taphouse. The food was AMAZING. We all left entirely too full and satisfied. Sedona is definitely one of my favorite restaurants when you are looking for a place that airs on the fancier side. Because let’s be honest, I would eat every meal at Soup and Taco or Benny’s in downtown Fredericksburg if I could.
We finished off our night by visiting a few of our old favorite bars Downtown. As usual, we were not disappointed by the host of characters and experiences from the night.
Another memorable birthday celebration in the books. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
