Looking for the perfect fall activity? Consider visiting a farm and/or an orchard! I mentioned that a particular farm is one of my 2017 Fall Favorites last week (catch up here), but I truly believe that it’s a destination that especially enticing in October and other fall months. In addition, it’s a great destination for dates, family fun, or hanging out with friends.
This weekend I decided to live my best fall life and visit both a farm and an apple orchard. I highly recommend visiting both if you are in the D.C. area. Both locations were in a 1-1.5-hour radius from me, which is a perfect distance for a mini adventure.
Saturday I visited Snead’s Farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia with two of my best friends. I visited this farm last year as well. There are plenty of activities, food, and fun for children and adults alike.
My personal favorite attraction of Snead’s Farm is the sunflower field. There is a path that you can cross that lets you out into a field of sunshine. Great place for taking pictures and picking your own flowers. Amanda was able to few shots of me in the field (check out her blog and photography here!) Just chose your path back to the main farm area wisely!
My inner fall basic has been dancing for joy because I finally crossed apple picking off my life bucket list (and October Bucket List). Marker-Miller Orchard was suggested to me by my coworker and I was able to convince my whole family to go. It was fun to take on a new adventure together!
Marker-Miller has 9 different apples that you can pick and an even larger variety that you can purchase in their store.
Beyond apple picking, the family and I also enjoyed a wagon ride around the farm. It’s also an awesome place to take children because of the large playground and cow-train ride.
In addition, there was also a BBQ truck and picnic area surrounding the playground so that children can play while adults could eat and enjoy the weather.
My favorite part was the food of course! The market had a huge variety of specialty products for purchase. I partook in the apple cider slushy AND a warm apple cider donut topped with vanilla ice cream (YUM).
I also snagged some apple butter and a peach flavored apple cider drink to go.
Fall is the perfect time to spend some time outside with family and friends before hiding from the cold weather of winter. I already can’t wait to partake in more fall activities next year!
