February was incredible and went by wayyy too fast. This month I completed 5 out of 7 items on my bucket list (find February’s list here). Traveling majorly threw off my groove! I had been counting down the days to my Mardi Gras Birthday Trip to New Orleans and I had a great time (if you couldn’t tell from my posts or Instagram haha). Looking forward to the many more adventures to come in my next quarter century of life!
Here are my other reflections for the month of February:
Mardi Gras was a great experience and I’m glad that I finally got to cross it off my bucket list! I recapped some of my Mardi Gras activities in this post (but if you want to go to the New Orleans for the food, then read this post as well!). My favorite part about the experience was being immersed in the culture and learning about some of the history of the celebration. I would definitely attend again!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to coordinate a brother/sister date this month. However, I still plan to spend some quality time with him soon, even if it’s no longer our birthday month!
Did everyone enjoy Valentine’s Day? I celebrated by completing several things in my Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s post (here). My family and friends received their surprises a little early in the month since I was away. On the actual day, I treated myself with some shopping and macarons with the girls!
This month I had two fitness goals. The first was to try a new exercise class. I decided to try out the Ascend Underground Elevate Class. The Elevate class incorporates intervals of power and strength drills on the mat and on the bike. Man was it tough. I’m still sore in some places as I type this! My second goal was to take the stairs more. I decided to incorporate the stairs into my work routine. Sure, I arrived at my desk with light (ok heavy) panting on some mornings, but I found as the month went on it was easier to make the choice to use the stairs over the elevator. Win!
I enjoyed reading a little every day. I was finally able to finish a book that I had been working on. Though some days I resorted to reading an article on my phone, I felt as though reading (for pleasure) was a great way to give some time back to myself. When I was home and in my typical routine, I found it relaxing to read a little right before going to bed. I plan to continue to have reading in my nightly routine.
Ah, yes, the other bucket list item that was not complete: weekly Whole 30 meals. Why? Because I through the notion completely out of the window when I got to New Orleans (sugar dragon! Old friend!). I’m still trying to reign myself back in to be honest.
Today is the last day of Black History Month. While I did a terrible job commemorating it, I did want to mention the Black Panther movie. Not only was it a great Marvel movie in general, but it awakened a larger sense of pride and community. Being able to take my brother to see a superhero that looked like him and to see his excitement was indescribable. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you should check it out! It made me want to watch all of the MCU movies in order!
Another great (or terrifying depending on how you feel about climate crisis) thing about this February was that it was uncharacteristically warm. I can’t tell you how often birthday plans got destroyed due to a snow storm! Until next time, February.
