In early March, I heard something on the radio that got me thinking. The personalities were discussing a statement made about monthly miracles. Apparently, statistically, everyone is guaranteed at least one miracle a month. The key, is being able to identify and being thankful for the miracle. I posed the question on my Instagram story about whether anyone had experienced their miracle yet (about half-way through the month). What I considered to be my “miracle” was winning tickets through Verizon Up to see Justin Timberlake in concert (!!!!). It was perfect timing because I was kind of down about not being able to purchase tickets to the tour even though he is one of my favorite people ever. The tickets gave me and a friend VIP access to the concert at Madison Square Gardens, so we made it a short, overnight trip to New York. We were so close to the stage, that we could practically touch JT (I DIED). Having never seen him in concert before, the experience was beyond my expectations.
I don’t think that every “miracle” will be at that scale, but I think that there is value in identifying special moments and counting blessings. What are your thoughts? Do you believe that everyone is guaranteed a miracle? Did you have one?
Here are my other reflections for the month of March:
After work one evening, I popped over to the National Portrait Gallery. It was my first time visiting this particular Smithsonian and it was well worth the trip! My first stop was to the Hall of Presidents where they keep portraits of presidents’ past. When you first enter the hall, there is a gigantic portrait of George Washington surrounded by columns (such a visual statement!).
I visited the official portrait of former President Obama and was greeted by a roped line of people waiting to get a picture with it.
I also visited the other halls and shared some of my favorite portraits on my instastory. I was surprised to see that the gallery went beyond portraits by including sculptures and digital installments. I plan on visiting again soon when I have a little more time to read and explore.
Though I had plans to attend multiple events in my different networks this month, I only made it to one: the UMW Young Alumni Eagle Crawl. The crawl itself was an…interesting experience. My favorite part was getting to catch up with a friend that I hadn’t seen in a while.
My Movie Pass got ample use this month! Expect a more detailed post about my movie recommendations later in April, but long story short, I enjoyed them all! Carving the time to go to the movies every week was a little challenging, but I used the time to myself as a way to unwind. I even treated myself to a few movie theater snacks while there!
I feel like it’s been a long time since I finished a book for pleasure! This month was the perfect time to read because I am currently between semesters. With classes starting up again soon (next week!) I still want to implement what I completed on February’s bucket list and try to read a little at night. It was such a relaxing way to end the day.
Whomp whomp. I didn’t have a Whole 30 meal every week. However, I definitely had more than I had in February and I already have one on the menu for this week. I eased my way back into cooking more at home (I was on a weird fast-food binge in February), so I feel like I’m in a much better and balanced place with my food consumption.
This month, I completed 7 out of 8 items on my March Bucket List. As exciting as March was, I’m looking forward to the more consistently nicer weather that April promises (except for my friends up north who just experienced a snow storm…April Fools?).
Stay tuned for my April Bucket List!
