Happy Sunday!! This summer has been all about happy vibes, making connections, getting out in the sun, and completing my bucket lists of course! (Check out my June and July bucket lists here!). I have spent this Sunday spending time with my self and recharging for the week ahead. Felt like the perfect time to share how I started my summer with some amazing ladies at the Positivity Charge Retreat.
In Early June, I got the opportunity to attend the Positivity Charge Wellness Retreat in Philadelphia. I spent a fun-filled day surrounded by positive energy and beautiful auras. I had such a great experience at the retreat that I wanted to share some of my insights from the day and my favorite products sampled so that you can start your summer on a positive note as well!
Holly, a life coach and yoga enthusiast, led a small group of us in a special Kundalini Yoga session. For those of you who are naïve to Kundalini Yoga like I was, it is described as a blend of techniques that are geared to increase consciousness and physicality through chanting, breathing, meditation, and movement. Holly was great at introducing us to the practice and made us feel comfortable with different techniques. For example, there were moments where we were told to pant like a lion while at other moments we were screaming our heads off. You would think that this would make us a little self-conscious, but I was content with how open everyone was with trying something new.
Workshops and Panel Discussion
After yoga and fun in the marketplace (think photo booth and free samples!), we grabbed some Honeygrow (DELICIOUS) and settled in for some talks and discussions. There was so much information, that I couldn’t possibly share it all. However, I wanted to share a few of my favorite takeaways. Many of them were reminders or points that I was in the right space to receive.
Start incorporating Flaxseeds
Plant-based living can be life changing—try to incorporate it more
Realistic pressure is good: remember to set realistic goals
Practice Gratitude (use it to start your day!)
Explore and find the right exercises for your body
Surround yourself with motivating people
Go where you think the people you want to hang out with will be (to find motivating/like-minded people).
Find comfort in discomfort
Pie makes a whole person. Make sure that your pie is made up of more than one slice (aka BALANCE PEOPLE).
Be unapologetically you
Thank you so much to all the people that I was able to learn from throughout the Positivity Charge Event: Caroline Ginolfi (@plantbasedblonde), Danielle Radulski (@danielle_radulski), Shanny (@shanny_do), Meaghan Murphy (executive editor of good housekeeping! @meaghanbmurphy), Dr. Rubina (co-founder of TCP! @dr_rubina), Amina (my girl! @thesaferbeautyactivist), and Jessamyn Stanley (boss, positivity keynote @jessamynstanley).
Let me preface this by saying that I have never been a fan of coconut water. It’s just not my thing. But Maple Water? I may have just found my new favorite thing. It’s a lightly sweet drink that boosts plant-based hydration with no sugar added! It was def a weird concept to me (like…is this syrup water?) but all I can say is try it…you’ll understand what I mean.
This sample may have changed my life. I have talked a lot on Instagram and with others about the sensitivity of my skin. I am constantly trying new products just to break out and be ultimately disappointed. I heard about this face cleanser a while back from one of my fave bloggers, Jenna of Visions of Vogue. However, it wasn’t until I got the sample from Amina that I actually tried it. Admittedly, I was skeptical that this would actually work—how many times have people swore that product x would work only to fail. Omg guys I’m in LOVE. Not only does it not irritate my skin, but it leaves my skin feeling super moisturized. It also contains only safe, clean ingredients. I have been converted to a believer.
I would jump at the chance to go to another Positivity Charge event. In fact, the boss babes of Positivity Charge are hosting an event next month in the D.C. area! For more information, check out this link.
