Usually, around this time of the year, I am already looking forward to Fall (my absolute favorite season). This year, I am determined to soak up as much of the summer as I possibly can! This month is going to be jammed packed with things that I didn’t get around to (but really wanted to do!) in the past two months.
Here is how I am finding balance in August:
Visit the Wharf
I have heard nothing but great things about the Wharf since it has been revamped. I’m hoping to finally check out for myself!
Take a Day Trip to Annapolis
Multiple have messaged me and told about how perfect Annapolis is as a day trip destination! I have personally never thought to visit Maryland’s state capital, but it just seemed too weird of a coincidence that everyone has been bringing it up. I’m always down for exploring a new city! If anyone else has any recommendation, please be sure to comment or message me!
Attend a Nationals Game
A bucket list repeat (?). I’ve really wanted to make it to another game all season, but it just hasn’t worked out (I partially blame the weird rainy weather we have been having). Maybe this month it will finally work out!
Go Swimming
I remember a time when summer meant attempting to go to the pool as much as possible. Fast forward to now where I am dangerously close to having a second summer of not enjoying the feel of chlorine burning my eyes. The sad thing is, I have a have free access to a pool that I never take advantage of. This month I absolutely have to go swimming.
Repurpose Candle Graveyard
Burning candles is one of my favorite things to do now that I have my own space. I take joy in finding candles that are both pretty, perfectly scented, and at a good price point (Homegoods and Marshalls are my favorite places to find candles that fit the bill year-round!). However, I have developed quite a collection of burned down candle jars that are too pretty to part with. I like to call the area my candle graveyard, and it is filled with glass candle jars that I keep meaning to repurpose. Time to finally get it done!
Incorporate Superfoods
This is the activity on my bucket list that I am most excited about pursuing! Lately, I have been OBSESSED with superfoods and how simple ingredients can work to nourish and support your body. I have been doing research and taste tests to figure out how to incorporate as many into my routine as possible. In fact, I plan on highlighting an ingredient weekly right here on the blog so that you can decide which superfoods are right for you!
Weekly Leisure Morning
As I get older and continue to work on finding balance in my life, I have really begun to value the time that I spend alone to recharge. The other week (when I posted my Sunday Positivity Charge post) I spent the most leisurely morning and it felt amazing. In efforts to recreate that feeling, I am challenging myself to try to experience it at least once a week. Because let’s be honest, most of my mornings consist of waking up with just or barely enough time to get ready and run out the door to work or an obligation. There are no set rules or time requirements, just an opportunity to slow down for a second.
Try a Jackfruit Recipe
Jackfruit seems to be all the rage lately as a meat substitute. I have been thinking about trying it out for a while, but it has never made it into my grocery cart. I hoping to find out if the texture is the real deal and if I can add it to my meatless meal repertoire.
This month, I am hoping to incorporate balance into my life by living in the moment. I want to enjoy the last month of summer before fully diving into my love for fall. The theme also comes into play by listening to my body, feeding it what it needs to be strong, and taking a moment of leisure to spend by myself. How are you finding balance in August?
