February 2019 Wrap Up

March 1, 2019 · In: Lifestyle

The end of February really snuck up on me. I mentioned in my bucket list post that February is one of my favorite months of the year. This year was no different. I was tickled by the outpouring of love all over social media, the engagements, and of course all of the pink.

This month I also released my 30 before 30 list! I am excited to start tackling that list in the coming years.

Here are my other reflections for the month of February:

One

My “Treat Yo Self Day” was almost too successful. I chose to complete that bucket list item on my 26th birthday as part of my celebration. Most of my day was spent in Georgetown where I brunched and shopped in my birthday dress (featured in the image for this post). I also engaged in some pampering by getting an SNS (dip) mani and pedicure. A got to see a lot of friends along the way. It was a great way to spend the day (but definitely cannot be a regular occurrence haha).

Two

For this year’s brother/sister birthday date, I took my brother to get his first macaron! Fun fact, it was the third macaron purchase of the weekend (oops). What can I say, I have a special love for the small cookies. We went to Olivia Macarons which is where I had my first macaron and remains my favorite place to get the treat to this day. My brother tried a few different flavors and ultimately decided that vanilla was his favorite. My favorites, for the record, are the fruity pebble and the blueberry cheesecake.

Three

To honor Black History Month, I decided to highlight some local black-owned businesses on Instagram every Friday. The series, titled Black Friday, is saved in my highlights on Instagram. The businesses that I decided to feature included a restaurant (District Soul Food), a nail salon (Sassy Nail Spa), another restaurant (Horace and Dickies) and a barbeque sauce (Hudson Sauce). Check out my thoughts on my profile!

Four

I completed the 10 day Morning Pages Challenges and I used essential oils for 28 days straight! I will be sharing my opinion on both experiences in future posts!

Five

Ok, this is not a “Friday Feels” post, but I could not create a post for today and not mention the best thing to happen today! The Jonas Brothers are back (I mentioned the possibility of their return in this Friday Feels post)!! Not only are they back, but their return was impeccably crafted. Their PR team deserves a raise tbh. Yesterday the Jo Bros spent the day building the excitement for their new song by sparking memories from the past. Including the recreation of their “Oh how the tables have turned” video and following up on tweets from 2013! Did I listen to the song as soon as it dropped at 11:59? YES. Have I listened to it a thousand times since and watched the video? Also DUH! Here is a link to the video because you need to see how great their leading ladies were as well (although I will never be over Nick getting married).

While the Jonas Brothers’ new song/video is still the most important thing to happen on this day, there were some other notable gems as well. Cardi B and Bruno Mars dropped the video for their collab, “Please Me” (here). Selena Gomez also had a new collab drop called “I Can’t Get Enough” by Benny Blanco, Tainy, Selena Gomez, & J Balvin. The song def makes we want to dance and is reminiscent of my hype song “Taki Taki.” I have ALL OF THE FEELS. Today is just such a good music day.

Ok, ok, back to the wrap up. This month I completed 6 out of 8 items on my February Bucket List. I totally ate fast food and I did not complete my declutter process. However, I did finally decide which items are being donated vs. which items are going to be sold, so I count that as progress.

Stay tuned for my March Bucket List!

Now Spinning: “New Edition” — New Edition [1 Now Spinning: “New Edition” — New Edition [1984]

My mom saved a few cherished vinyl from when she was younger and now I get to listen to them! Today I’m listening to the self-titled New Edition album which featured a few songs that I’ve grown up listening to. Even though I’ve had plenty of New Edition exposure, I was SHOOKETH to hear a song that I recognized as one from the artist that was my first celebrity crush 😍. It was a fun surprise to hear the song that he sampled (“I’m leaving you again”).

Do you recognize the song!?!
