It’s the last day of May, and I am scratching my head, trying to figure out where the month went. How did I spend my time? Is it possible to give a recap about a month that I don’t even remember? The great thing about these wrap up posts is that I get to enjoy a moment of reflection. I get a chance to relive and be thankful for the highlights. In addition, I think about the lessons that I learned from the low points. In essence, it’s a bonus gratitude practice!
Here are my other reflections for the month of May:
My favorite item to cross off of my May Bucket List was definitely eating lunch outside once a week. Though I like to switch the location up, I kept being drawn to the Old Town Waterfront. The sound and view of water has always had a calming effect on me. Being able to enjoy some fresh air and the water was a great way to break up my day and help me recenter before embarking on the second half. I would often bring a book (physical or audio form) to discourage too much phone time (i.e. working) during my break. I have every intention of keeping outdoor meals as part of my routine!
Though I had many cultural and art aspects on the list this month, the only one that I was able to visit was the Artechouse. I took an Artechouse newbie (heyy Sara!) with me to explore the In Peak Bloom exhibition. The main room installation was mesmerizing as always (pictured), but my favorite aspect of the exhibit was actually the cherry blossom tree in one of the smaller rooms. When you step in the room, you are faced with a grey and white tree with bare branches. However, once you and a friend embrace (after removing your shoes) the tree blossoms to life! The room becomes filled with the light of brilliant pink petals. As soon as physical contact is broken, the tree withers and dies. I found it profound as well as pretty.
While not on the bucket list, one of the defining memories of this month was my change in birth control method. I will be discussing it more in an informative 3-part series, but (spoiler alert) it was quite the experience. If you want a sneak peek about what I will be discussing, head over to my Instagram page and check out the highlights.
This month I completed 3 out of 7 items on my May Bucket List. I struggled with the fact that I finished so few items on the list this month (and that I would have to admit this fact to you all). It wasn’t from lack of interest, life just happened (and kept happening). Better luck next month!
