Oh heyyyy, Friday! I’m looking forward to enjoying a low key weekend in preparation for my busy week ahead. Hopefully, the stormy weather doesn’t completely thwart my plans!
Here are five things that gave me all the feels this week:
National Flip Flop Day (FREE TROPICAL SMOOTHIE)
Bummed that you missed National Donut Day last week? Don’t fret, I’m here to inform you that there is another freebie that is sure to get you in the summer spirit! Today is National Flip Flop Day (which you can’t eat) but in celebration, Tropical Smoothie is offering a FREE 16 oz Sunshine Smoothie if you come in wearing flip flops between 2-7 pm. The Sunshine Smoothie contains mango, banana, pineapple, orange and orange juice–like sunshine in a cup (I encourage the purchase of their reusable cup!). Tropical Smoothie’s celebration of National Flip Flop Day is not actually to celebrate the summer sandal, but to honor their years of partnership with Camp Sunshine. There are many opportunities (and incentives) to donate to the camp throughout the year via Tropical Smoothie. Camp Sunshine is a great organization that helps provide support to families with children who have life-threatening conditions. Help spread sunshine (and awareness) but sharing your free smoothie today!
Chasing Happiness…
If you remember from one of my previous Friday Feels posts, I have been practically counting down to the release of the Jonas Brothers’ Chasing Happiness documentary. Available on Prime Video, the documentary goes into more detail about their beginnings and when they began to fall apart as a band and as siblings. The documentary also covers the journey that they took to come back together as a family first and their decision to reinstate the band. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there are some HARD truths that come out during a roundtable game about their feelings about each other and the choices that they made. Chasing Happiness was insightful, powerful, humanizing, and only made me love them more.
…Happiness Begins
Following the release of their documentary, the Jonas Brothers release their new album titled Happiness Begins. OMG. The album is SO good, and not even in a “nostalgia hype” way. I think that my favorite songs are (though it’s very hard to choose) are “Only Human” and “Love Her.” The brothers were on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week where they performed “Only Human.” Amazing. Check out the performance here!

Natural Hair Story
Every once in a while, I find that I serendipitously stumble upon a piece of writing that really speaks to me. I recently started following The Everygirl on Instagram and one of the first posts I saw was a quote (above) about a woman learning to embrace her natural hair. The quote led me to read the article by Kiara Goodwin titled “My Hair Journey: What I’ve Learned From My Natural Hair.” It was almost uncomfortably relatable. Hair is a big topic in African American culture and everyone has an opinion. Are you more valuable if you wear your hair straight or are you just a sell-out? Does your natural hair make you “look unprofessional?” If you wear weaves are you an imposter? Do you have “good” hair? Ugh. I am not ready to go into my own hair journey, but I will say that it is definitely a topic that has been on my mind a lot lately. If you want a glimpse into Kiara’s journey, make sure you check out the article!
S’well Sports Cap
S’well recently came out with a new sport cap and it is SO GOOD. I have been using it for over a week now, and I love how much easier it has made my life. When in workout classes, there is little time to unscrew your bottle and get a full drink before the next section of the workout starts. However, now that I have this cap, I only need one finger to pop it open and take a drink. I have already noticed that I am drinking more water during class (which I was terrible at before). In addition, the cap passes the “upside down test.” When completely closed, water does not leak from the cap even when you shake it upside down! I am a fan. Find it here!
