Happy Friday, Ambitious Fam! Another short week didn’t make me any less excited for this weekends arrival. Though I don’t have anything particularly exciting planned, I am looking forward to binging Stranger Things Season 3 and tackling a growing to-do list.
Here are five things that gave me all the feels this week:
In Theaters
Ok, so technically I saw these movies last week, but I am still obsessing over them! Spider-Man: Far From Home was SO GOOD. The tone of the movie was definitely what you would expect from one centered around high school characters in that there were moments that were definitely a little more in the coming of age genre. I can’t get over how adorable Tom Holland is ore the chemistry of the cast. And the first post credit scene? JAW DROPPING. You win again Marvel.
I also finally went to go see Toy Story 4. Super cute and my bestie and I definitely shed a few tears (much to the amusement of the 10-year-old). I thought that the storyline was a lot better than Toy Story 3 tbh. Def a movie that both little ones and adults that grew up with the franchise can enjoy. Next up on my movie theater list is the live-action Lion King set to come out next week!
Adult Popsicles
Don’t you love when an impulse project works out perfectly? When babysitting late one night, I came across a pin on Pinterest about making your own Coconut Rum Pineapple Popsicles. I immediately purchased these fun summer popsicle molds on Amazon and shared with my bestie that we’ll be experimenting during Super Summer. They were SO delicious! There is barely any alcohol in it (just 2 tbsp in the entire batch to allow proper freezing), but it can easily be made alcohol-free. I also loved that it was compliant with my effort to use less single-use plastic (no wrappers!). To make the popsicles, all you need are some popsicle molds, tbsp Malibu Coconut Rum, a ½ cup of coconut milk, a ½ cup of orange juice, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp of coconut oil, and 5 slices (or more) of pineapple. Blend it all together and freeze overnight. The perfect summer treat!
Mozzeria
A new pizza restaurant is coming to DC and the story behind it is enough to give anyone the feels. Mozzeria is deaf-owned and operated pizza restaurant that originated in San Francisco. The owners both went to Gallaudet University, a school for the deaf and hard of hearing, and they always dreamed of having a restaurant nearby. Not only is the restaurant deaf-owned, but the employees will be deaf as well. The story of the Steins is a great reminder of how one can follow their dreams even in the midst of adversity. 6 Easy Ways to Build Community
My friend Caitlin just released an e-book this week about how to build community through blogging and social media and I thought that it was so great! Her inspiration behind creating the free e-book was a struggle that many of us in the blogging space has experience. Caitlin feels that the pressure of building a social media following is overshadowing the whole point of social media in the first place: building a community. Besides the tips being useful, I felt that Caitlin was the perfect person to share this information. Ever since our first interaction, I have admired how genuinely kind Caitlin is. She does a great job of lifting others up and is even currently doing a series on Instagram called Gal Pal July where she shares other creative women that she feels inspired by every day this month. If you want to check out the e-book for yourself, subscribe to the Lemonade Press Blog email list!
Plastic Free July Newsletter
One of my goals for 2019 was to create a newsletter and I have honestly been dragging my feet. To ease myself into this uncharted territory, I decided to start by creating a newsletter series around Plastic Free July! Subscribers will receive an email every Sunday this month spotlighting a product that I have been loving and that has been helping me on my sustainability journey. The first newsletter is coming out today at 3 pm (to make up for last Sunday). If you would like a little dose of eco-friendly living in your inbox this month, sign up here!
I love your plastic-free newsletter! What a fantastic collection of tips! Also that restaurant sounds amazing-and so inspiring.
Thank you so much for being apart of the Ambitious Fam! Has it inspired you to make any eco-friendly switches of your own?
