Happy Friday, Ambitious Fam! Taking the day off definitely made my gratitude list this morning. I have a day of steady productivity and fun planned which has helped foster a pretty zen mood. Or maybe the mood is fostered by the delicious oat milk latte that I treated myself with after a particularly grueling morning workout. Either way, I’ll take it!
Here are five things that gave me all the feels this week (and a little last week too):
Jackie Aina’s New Palette (and engagement!)
Yall. My favorite beauty Youtuber, Jackie Aina, dropped a new collaboration eyeshadow palette with Anatasia Beverly Hills and I. WAS. NOT. READY. The packaging, the colors, the names–just stunning. I can’t wait to purchase it to add to my makeup collection. Jackie’s highlighters (a previous collab with Artist Couture) are still some of the most precious items in my collection, so I am sure that the palette will be just as good. In addition to all of her presale success (it sold out in just 4 minutes!), the Youtuber also revealed pictures announcing her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Denis. Sigh. Just so happy for her.

Disney +
Have I expressed my displeasure for the streaming wars on the blog yet? I already have way too many streaming subscriptions (Netflix…Hulu…Amazon Prime…ugh just take all my coins), so I was not thrilled when Disney announced that they were creating their own streaming service (and subsequently removing their Marvel, etc content from Netflix). However, now that I have seen their alleged proposed offerings, I’m pretty sure that I’m going to have to sign up. With Hulu included at just $12.99 a month, I can def justify the extra $7 in my budget. Plus, my 12-year-old brother has already asked for password privileges haha. You win this round Disney.
Let’s Talk About Black Hair
I mentioned in my August Bucket List post that I have been going through my own hair journey. Last week, Tomi of Goodtomicha shared a post that revealed some of her own hair journey, as well as why she removed her braids. Spoiler alert: it had to do with the fear of being discriminated against during her job search. As disappointed as I was that this is a reality for so many of us (black women), I was reminded of how grateful I am to be in a career position where I feel like I can experiment with my hair. However, I would be lying if I said that I didn’t experience some similar reservations. Check out Tomi’s post (here) to get a little more insight on the black hair experience.
Morning Routines
We all know about the importance of morning routines–the most successful peeps swear by it. Rachel Hollis shared an article on Facebook and it was the perfect inspo to keep perfecting my own morning routine. The article cites 8 semi-scientific things that people should do before 8 am. I totally believe that my best days start with an early wake-up and I already incorporate many of the suggested items in my routine (not so sure about #5, but I am willing to give it a try). Check out the article here!
Popeyes Fried Chicken Sandwich
In food news, (since it seems like it’s becoming a highlight in this series) Popeyes did a thing! They just created a chicken sandwich that RIVALS Chick-fil-a’s and I am here for it. I had been watching the rumors swirl on Twitter as they introduced the sandwich to specific markets. The sandwich is now available nationwide and YALL IT IS SO GOOD. The sandwich features the same crispy breading as you expect from Popeyes chicken paired with a Cajun mayo (regular mayo available) and pickled on a brioche bun. I got the spicy chicken version, and though it was not even a little spicy IMO, I was not ready for how juicy, crunchy and overall delicious it was. So if you’re looking for a spicy chicken sandwich without the questionable politics, I def recommend!
