ALL HAIL THE BASIC QUEENS BECAUSE FALL IS FINALLY HERE! Well…sort of. It is September, folks! Can’t you just smell the pumpkin spice in the air?
All fall excitement aside, I have a good feeling about this month. I can’t quite figure out why, but maybe speaking a good month into existence is enough to make it happen. That, and completing the tasks on my bucket list of course!
Here is how I am finding balance this September:
Ride the Capital Wheel
I remember when the National Harbor was just a patch of land that signaled that I was almost to my grandma’s house. I also remember the excitement I had when the Capital Wheel was installed and the flashing lights swirled as we drove past. In those moments, I would vow to myself that I would ride it one day. Fast forward to about 5 years later and I still haven’t experienced the magic! Luckily, a fun DC Bloggers event this month will provide the perfect opportunity.
Celebrate Fall
If my intro didn’t clue you in, fall is by far my favorite season of the year! I’m ready to do all of the fall things with my family and friends. Some of my newer friends (cough, Megan) haven’t reached their full fall basic potential yet, so this year I will be their guides. I’m even hosting a fall festival at my office! Have any fun fall activity ideas? Let me know in the comments!
Apple Picking
Last year, I didn’t make it to an apple orchard and the year before that I went a little late in the season. Hoping to hit a sweet spot by heading to an orchard this month to bask in all of the apple glory. Looks like I already missed Gala apple picking (apparently that particular apple peaks in August), but there are still a large variety of apples available this month!
Cozy Fire Pit Sessions
Are you more of a fire pit or bonfire lover? Bonfires are great and all, but I feel like it’s more of a spectacle. I prefer the coziness of gathering around a fire pit with loved ones. It fills my cup with joy and serenity from being under the night sky and the conversations/memories that ensue. Plus, if you are doing it right, then there are roasted marshmallows involved and I can’t turn those down!
Declutter Clothing
It’s that time of year again where I want to purge a large amount of clothing. There are still things lingering in my apartment from my Marie Kondo days (super embarrassing), and there are other things that I have gradually realized are just taking up space. Between the seasonal decluttering bug, I have also been thinking a lot about how my cluttered spaces are anxiety forming. My current plan is to go beyond clothing and reclaim back my space. Clothing is just presently the largest obstacle.
Try a New Apple Recipe
Assuming that I will have plenty of apples from picking, I thought that it would be a great idea to try out a new recipe. I usually just eat the apples that I buy sliced, so it will be fun to switch it up a little. Does anyone have a favorite recipe?
This month, I am hoping to incorporate balance into my life by fully embracing my best fall self!
I am trying to do a few new things this month. I’ve been coasting along through life as of late–being so busy with finding a job, keeping on top of bills, etc.–so I have on my list to attend at least 3 meetup events this month to meet some new people. I’m going to try a running group for plus sized ladies this weekend–wish me luck! I love these fall bucket list ideas, apple picking always ends up on my list too.
All the luck! In busy seasons of life, it’s def hard to feel like you can keep up with it all. Sometimes you just don’t, and that’s ok! However, that’s often when I found that my bucket lists are most helpful. It forces me to remember to have a little fun. Hope everything went well <3
