Hey Ambitious Fam! We’re another week into No Shop October and this week Caitlin, Taylor, and I are showcasing how we style one of our five wardrobe essentials (post here) in multiple ways. I decided to style my mock neck sweater from LOFT (similar style here)! Not only is it super soft, but I find it to be one of the most versatile fall pieces in my closet. Yesterday, I did a styling session on Instagram (saved in my highlights) so make sure to check it out if you would like to see the sweater in motion.
*Also, please forgive me in advance for bringing mirror picks to the blog…I wanted to create an authentic try-on experience haha.
Here is how I style my mock neck sweater 4 different ways:
Casual Rainy Day

If there is even a drop of precipitation in the forecast, I use it as an excuse to break out my Bean Boots (click here for my pair). This outfit has all of my ideal comfy components: leggings as pants (fight me), Bean Boots, and soft sweater. The leggings in this outfit are high waisted and perfect for working out and casual wear. They are 90 degrees by Reflex; I was first introduced to them at Marshall’s, but now I buy them on Amazon in multipacks. I actually have a winter variation of this outfit that swaps Bean Boots for Uggs and includes a slouchier sweater.
Dressed-Up Casual

I took the base of the previous outfit and jazzed it up a bit by adding a leather jacket and switching to my most comfortable (seriously, they have memory foam) pair of black booties. I would reach for this look when I am meeting friends for dinner, or if I generally want to be comfortable but have a little edge. The jacket in this outfit is super old Michael Kors, but any fitted leather jacket will do. I like that this look highlights the length of the sweater.
Jeans Day at the Office

Fun fact: I only own one pair of jeans…and they are this pair of black jeans from Express. While jeans are not my go-to, they do make things easier when we have jeans day at the office (I’m actually wearing them now). For this look, I used the side-slits of the sweater to be my guide to create a front tuck. This gives the outfit a more polished look, which is ideal for the office.
Pumpkin Spice

I saved my favorite look for last! I reach for this outfit way more than I should in the fall because I love every aspect of it! Switching up from pairing the sweater with black (what can I say, I like the color contrast), I tucked the sweater into my LOFT pumpkin spice faux leather skirt. This look definitely adheres to the “dress like a leaf” rule from my previous post (here). I love the contrast of textures, the fall neutral color play, and how I feel when I wear this outfit. Do yourself a favor and start pairing comfy knits with leather skirts, and you’ll see what I mean.
This is great exercise to do with all of your clothing items! I think we get stuck in ruts, but each piece can really shine in a lot of different ways if we make the effort. You look great in all 4 looks!
Thank you so much! I think that it is important to take a step back to appreciate what you do have 🙂
