Happy Friday, Ambitious Fam! I’m a little disappointed that I’m not doing my typical Friday Feels post today because wow was this week full of them. Before I go into my wrap up of January, I want to take a moment to share this article about how Black men mourn. After the devastating news about the helicopter crash in Calabasas and the loss of all of the passengers on board, I was not ok. I had such a physical reaction. I had to avoid social media (particularly twitter) for days because the onslaught of information was just too much to handle. Not only was I upset for myself and the families involved, but I was so heartbroken for all the (now) men that I have grown up with and currently in my life. I think that this article is important for everyone to read ESPECIALLY for those who are struggling to understand the significance of this loss to our community.
Here are my other reflections for the month of January:
One
This month I challenged myself (and Megan) to complete the Apple activity app “Ring in the New Year Challenge”. In order to be awarded the badge in the app, we had to close all three of our rings (move, exercise, and stand goals) for 7 days in a row. We crushed it, and I have actually been pretty consistent about getting at least 30 minutes of movement every day. There was a lapse in my streak due to illness, but overall, I think that continuing to build this habit will mean great things for 2020.

Guess what!? I am currently drafting this post at my desk! Not my desk at the office, but in the actual space that I cleared to make usable again. When I first moved into my apartment, I was excited to have the opportunity to create a space that was my own. I took pride in my desk area because I was able to outfit it with inspirational quotes and lots of gold and pink details. However, over time, the space became my catch-all. It developed piles of unsorted mail and random things from days past. I’m happy to have a space now where I can journal, drink coffee, and get blog work done.

This month I implemented some changes that I think will really help me on my financial journey. These changes include adding more streams of income and committing to reducing my debt. I reviewed my finances from last year and was proud to see my debt steadily decrease throughout the year. I plan on continuing to be conscious of my financial decisions in order to continue towards financial freedom.
This month I completed ALL of the items on my January Bucket List. My bucket list items have helped me build a strong foundation for the rest of the year, which was exactly what I wanted.
