Happy July Ambitious Fam! I’m excited to share some fun news that I’ve been teasing in my last two newsletters: I’m doing a summer giveaway series! Each week this month I will be sharing summer-themed posts that include an opportunity to win one of the items featured (yay!). Keep an eye out for this week’s post and sign up for my Ambitious Weekly newsletter (here) to receive extra entries!
Here is how I am growing into a better version of myself this July:
Hamilton!!
Alright, alright that’s what I’m talking about (*Laurens voice). Hamilton was released on Disney+ on July 3rd (a little behind in posting this bucket list haha) which gave more people the opportunity to be in the room where it happens! I can’t begin to express all of my thoughts in this post, but it was magical to see the film with the original cast. When I saw it in 2018 (on this bucket list!), I wasn’t sure that it would live up to my expectations after being obsessed with the soundtrack for a year prior. It exceeded expectations! Now fellow soundtrack lovers get to experience the amazingness that is the set design, choreography, and talent that is the production from the comfort of their living room. I still think that it is worth seeing in person when possible, but I love that partnering with Disney allowed for the play to be more accessible.
Blackout Day
Holding true to the commitment made in my last post, I’m challenging myself to participate and spread awareness about Blackout Day. Occurring on July 7, 2020, Blackout Day is an initiative that encourages Black people and allies to refrain from spending any money for 24 hours unless the money is spent at a Black-owned business. The movement is meant to represent Black solidarity as well as an act of protest that illustrates the buying/economic power of Black Americans and their allies by redirecting money. I encourage you to take the challenge and share it with your friends and family as well!
Have a Picnic
While I completely failed at last month’s goal of completing weekly morning walks to get some sunshine, this month I want to have a picnic! I still plan to adhere to social distance guidelines (honestly, it will probs be alone) but I think some time outdoors will be nice.
Share a Plant
Since my May Bucket List, I have become a plant mom to 15 plants! I have gotten so much joy out of caring for them and watching them grow! This month, I want to spread plant joy by sharing a propagation with a friend or family member. Some of my favorite plants to watch have been plants that I received a free cutting of from someone else. I’m hoping to pay it forward by sharing a piece of my plant as well!
Push Up Challenge
One of my gym friends (and fitness instructor) is hosting a virtual push-up challenge this month! Each day we have to post a video of us doing the allotted push-ups as proof. I love a good challenge, so I couldn’t resist joining. It will be interesting to see if I have made any improvements by day 31!
This month, I am still embracing social distance life, but incorporating some summer joy and challenges.
