Happy September, Ambitious Fam! I mentioned in my last post that I got a jump start on celebrating Fall by having my first pumpkin spice latte of the season (sorry not sorry) but I am beyond eager to enjoy all of the next things that the season has to offer. The change of season has a way of helping shift focus and stir excitement as it brings new things to look forward to. I heard my IG buddy Sarah refer to it as the promise of the “ber” months and I thought that it was super fitting. This last third of the year is going to look different for all of us, but I am determined to make the most of it. I hope that you find little ways to safely celebrate the rest of the year as well!
Here is how I am growing into a better version of myself this September:
Friends! I am so excited to announce that I will be working with the Community Cooperative to be a guest presenter at one of their monthly Positivi-Tea Events this Tuesday! I will be discussing practicing gratitude through journaling and generally enjoying the ambiance of a positive space. I would love for you to join me! The tickets are only $3 and there is an option to grab a free ticket if it is not something that you can financially commit to at this time. Click here for more details and to grab your spot!
Plan a Mini Adventure
I’ve been hankering for an adventure, but I have been internally struggling about how to do so safely. A (well researched) mini-adventure seems like the perfect way to scratch that itch, especially now that the temps will be cooling. I requested some time off next month, so September will be dedicated to finding some options that are safe, fun, and cost-effective. A day trip seems more my speed, but we will see! Let me know if you have any ideas!
Learn Hair Porosity
One of the major motivators behind transitioning from chemically processed hair was to learn more about my natural hair. I chopped off the last of the processed hair a little over 3 months ago and I feel like it has had time to settle some into its curl pattern. This month, I want to test my hair porosity and learn more about how it impacts my hair product absorption and care requirements.
New Sustainable Swap
Looking to add more sustainable swaps into my life! I’m at the point where I am pretty comfortable with the swaps that I have made. However, the point of my sustainability journey is to keep learning and keep transitioning to a lifestyle that is kinder to the planet. There are a couple of swaps that I have been researching that I have in mind to try!
I have a few items that have been in need of mending for a really long time that I keep putting off. Part of the sustainable lifestyle that I am trying to remember to embrace is to fix things instead of tossing/purchasing new ones. Before I pack away the summer items for good, I need to do these minor mends so that it doesn’t become future Cierra’s problem (again 😅).
I found something that I thought would make my Fall at home infinitely better—a mini pumpkin waffle maker!! At just $11, it was a small price to pay for some seasonal joy. As a fun challenge to myself, I decided that every weekend this month I would try a different waffle recipe. I’ll share if I find any good ones! If you would like to purchase a pumpkin waffle maker for yourself, click the links to buy through Target or Crate & Barrel.
This month, I am looking forward to celebrating a new season while diving deeper into some of my current journeys.
