Hey, Ambitious Fam! Petition to update the October quote to “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers, I just wish they were longer” because I feel like I blinked and the month was over. I touched on this a little in my (super late) October Bucket List post, but this month often straddled the line between exactly what I needed and nothing like I hoped. It wasn’t the ideal place to be but I would still love to drag it out a week longer, ya know? Let’s get into my 4Ls for the month:
In October I…
liked taking more walks and experiencing my ideal day.
learned to do what I can with what I have.
lacked enough weekends 🙁
longed for a typical month of fall activities.
Here are my other reflections for the month of October:
One
My highlight of the month was definitely spending time with my nephew. We made pumpkin waffles together and he was the best little helper. Plus, I was able to successfully convert him to a pumpkin lover much to the chagrin of his mom–the kiddo kept asking for more! I made a video of the experience and shared it on Instagram (click here) if you are interested! I have to admit that I have watched it several times and it always makes my heart melt. Truly going to cherish this memory.
Two
In October I set an ambitious goal to walk 31.1 miles by October 31st. I’m here to report that I did….not meet that goal. In fact, I only intentionally walked 13.5 miles during the month. While I may not be able to cross the item off of my bucket list this time, I do not feel like it was a complete failure. I’m pretty proud of the miles that I was able to complete. I’m proud of the days that I pushed and walked further than ever before. Proud of the days that I opted to walk to an errand when I would typically drive. Proud of the days that I got out when I really didn’t feel like it. Walking and exploring led to some pretty peaceful moments in a month where my mind was pretty occupied. I would totally be down to attempt this again–maybe for a bucket list item next year :).
Three
Fall is my favorite season for coffee and this year I made it my mission to try new recipes at home. Out of the 8 new fall coffee recipes that I tried, my favorite ended up being the one I least expected–the Maple Tahini Latte. While I’m a little behind the ball on sharing my coffee taste test, I think that I will still share it on YouTube for next year’s reference. Plus, if you’re like me, fall coffee will live on until at least November 15th and make an appearance on Thanksgiving! I’ll update when the video is available!
This month I completed 5.5 out of 6 items on my October Bucket List. While I did attempt Vlogtober this year, I’ll only give myself partial credit to account for the days that I did miss.
