My love for fall knows no bounds. Between all of the pumpkin and fall flavors, the return of sweater weather, the myriad of activities—there is a reason why the season is my favorite and the favorite of many many others. I take full advantage of what fall has to offer every year, and this year is no exception!
Here is what’s on my fall bucket list:

Sprinkle fall decor
I have been slow to decorate for fall this year outside of a few mini pumpkins. However, my friend inspired me to get some floating candles and I think they are the perfect little festive touch (plus, we love a little mood lighting). Hoping to sprinkle a few more fall touches around my place to enjoy throughout the season.
Visit a new farm/orchard
While visiting multiple farms and orchards during this time of year is a given, my brother and I enjoy exploring new ones together each season. Fortunately, there are plenty of options within 1-2 hour drives away!
Read a romantasy book
Romantasy combines two of my favorite genres—romance and fantasy. Though I’m trying to keep my fall reading list more on the realistic side (I’m still finishing up Circe from my summer reading list), there are a couple books I’m eyeing to fulfill this bucket list item.
Pumpkin waffles!
In addition to using my pumpkin waffle maker to use pumpkin waffles at home, I can’t wait for another year of the pumpkin waffle tradition with my nephew. This year, we also agreed that his baby bro was old enough to join us in the kitchen. My heart is already bursting just thinking about it.
Play with fall style
There is just something about fall that makes me want to play with my style. I explained in a reel on Instagram that something that I have been living by this year is the idea that I don’t have to be confined in a box when it comes to my expression. In the past, I have felt trapped by the idea of having to consistently stick to an aesthetic or expression choice. To be honest, I think that it was just an unintended side effect of being on social media. This year, I’ve been trying to bounce more freely between looks and try the fits that I have been curious about. Documenting it on the ‘gram if you want to come along for the journey!
Leaf peep on Skyline Drive
Have you ever driven through Skyline Drive? Skyline Drive is a 105 mile stretch along the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah. The views are gorgeous and there are several lookout points and hikes along the way. I’m pretty sure that I have driven along Blue Ridge Parkway, but I’m excited to travel along a portion of Skyline Drive to take in the fall foliage!
Attend a spooky event
Spooky season or pumpkin season? There is only one right answer…both!
Eat all the pumpkin treats
Speaking of pumpkin, I have been stocking up and eating all of the pumpkin treats this season and I’ll continue to do so. My favorite pumpkin delicacy this year has been the pumpkin cruffin from Fresh Baguette. They have a few locations in the DMV so definitely give it a try if you’re local!
Binge a fall show
There are so many shows that give off fall vibes. A couple of my go-tos are the Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. Last year, I started my first viewing attempt of Gilmore Girls (I know, I know, but I’m still trying to get into it). This year, I’m watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a friend. Neither of us had seen it before and I knew next to nothing about it going into it, so it’s been interesting! What is your favorite show to binge in the fall?
Climb “the Exorcist” steps
If you have seen the Exorcist (1973), then you may be familiar with the steps that Father Karras fell down in the movie. One of Georgetown’s random claims to fame is that steps are there, though now used more for workouts. Consider this climb to be one of my physical challenges for the season.
Finish a puzzle
Working on a puzzle seems like a fun way to cultivate cozy vibes. There is a puzzle that I have been needing to finish (and um start) FOREVER now. Hoping to cross this one off the list soon so that I can hang it up before the year is out.
Try a new fall recipe
Friendsgiving is always a good excuse to try out a new fall recipe in my book! In addition to trying a new fall recipe, I’m hoping to revisit some recipes that I have tried in the past. It’s been a while since I’ve cooked with a squash, so I’ll have to dig through my old Pinterest board for recipes that I tried and liked.
I hope that you take some time to indulge in some of the things that fall has to offer this season! What’s on you fall bucket list?
