Goodbye August! I’m so excited to announce that I completed my entire August Bucket List this year (if you need a refresher, you can find the post here). Yes, that even includes SKYDIVING!! I’ve been keeping bucket lists for all of 2017 and this is the first time that I accomplished completing the entire list. I already have a great plan for the tasks that I haven’t completed throughout the year (stay tuned). I spent a long time trying to narrow down what my favorite accomplishment was this week, but I couldn’t. Truth is, I’m proud that I was able to meet each goal. They all added an extra amount of balance in my life. Here are a few of my final reflections about the month:
A girls’ weekend was undeniably what the doctor ordered. It was so fun to get to spend the weekend with my besties. We shopped, laughed, danced, ate well (did you see that biscuit and gravy picture!? New fave Amanda meal), and even spent some time having a lazy afternoon. Those girls are my heart.
I really enjoyed my visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. So much so, that I made sure to reserve some tickets for December. I took my little brother and my sister. It was fascinating to read through the exhibits and see the collections. If you start at the bottom level of the museum, you get a chronological tour of African American history. The museum can definitely take a toll on you emotionally. At one point, my brother and I had to make the decision to take a break and go to the middle level. My brother is 10 years old, so some of the information was a little hard for him to handle.
For more information about getting tickets to the museum visit their website. The website gives very detailed instructions about their policy and how to get tickets. Their tickets are free, but it is easiest to get them in advance. My best advice is to have multiple window open on whichever internet browser that you use and try for multiple dates. Tickets go fast, so I would log on promptly at 9 AM on the morning that they release tickets.
Incorporating spin class into my routine twice a month was one of my best ideas. I actually looked forward to my Friday morning spin class because it made me feel ready to conquer the day. I also treated myself to Tropical Smoothie and I chose Friday to be my make-up day. Having spin class so early in the morning forced me to get up earlier than I usually would for work. This allowed me to have more time to get ready in the morning. I would get home after class, turn up my tunes, and get ready for the day. Friday’s are casual dress days at my office so I also saw it as the perfect opportunity to play with my make up. Such a great way to end the work week.
One of my biggest food weaknesses is a good bacon cheeseburger. I can’t believe I made it through the whole month without eating beef! What’s more surprising was that I didn’t find it hard. I don’t think that I am going to completely give up beef, but I am definitely planning on reducing my intake.
Guys. I did not touch my personal savings account ONCE! While I’ve definitely gotten better financially over this past year (Budgeting is life), I’m proud of this baby step.
Though not on my list, one of the biggest decisions that I made this month was to finally start this blog. I’ve always admired the blogger world but I was too afraid to actually take the steps that I need to get the idea off the ground. However, when I made the decision, I was all in!
The end of August means the unofficial start of fall (because honestly, is there even a better season!?). Keep your eye out for my September Bucket List!
