Its March! The official start of Spring is right around the corner and nature agrees. Seemingly overnight, trees have donned buds or even blossoms! I didn’t realize how much I missed the colors of spring until signs of it began to pop up everywhere. I can’t wait for more hours of daylight and the energy that it will bring to the area.
Here is how I am finding balance this March:
Meet Dave Hollis!!!!!
Friends, it’s finally happening. I’m finally meeting ½ of my favorite power couple!! Dave Hollis is releasing his first book this month and it’s going on tour to promote it. As soon as I saw that DC was on the tour list, I made arrangements to purchase tickets. When I saw that there were VIP meet and greet tickets, I knew that I could not turn down the opportunity to get face time with one of my idols! I’m beyond excited! Counting down the days!!
Hollis Variety Show
In other Hollis news, the duo announced that they will be putting on a live variety show in Austin. For those of us who can’t make it to the Paramount Theatre in Texas, the show will be broadcasted live in movie theaters! Of course, I already grabbed my tickets (for more info, check out this post) and I am excited to see the live recording of podcast episodes and all of the other surprises that Rachel and Dave Hollis have planned!
As our super mild winter comes to a close, it appears that the famous DC Cherry Blossoms might make an early appearance. According to the latest updates, the Yoshino blossoms are currently in their 2nd stage of bloom, which is the floret visible stage. The National Parks Service released its prediction that the iconic flowering trees will reach peak bloom March 27-March 30. The Cherry Blossoms bring so many tourists to the DC area, so much so that I typically avoid the tidal basin. However, this year I want to make an effort to see the blossoms against the backdrop of the Potomac and the memorials.
Union Market has been a location that I have been wanting to visit for a long time now. The location is home to a myriad of eateries, shops, murals, and events. I’ve heard so many great things about Union Market, especially the food and goods from local artisans. I’m sure that I will need many trips to get the full experience so it is definitely time for me to make my first visit.
Reinstate Outdoor Lunches
The world has been looking a little brighter lately and it has been making me so happy! One of the ways that I like to practice self-care during the workweek is to make it a goal to eat lunch outside at least once a week. It forces me outside of the office and away from the demands of others. It also prohibits me (some) from working or running errands during lunch. In addition, I get to slow down and enjoy the outdoors. I have already spent a small fortune on allergy medication in preparation. I encourage you to commit to having one lunch to yourself this month as well!
Last month I made it a goal to evaluate which everyday decisions I could automate, which I can schedule, and which I prefer to devote time to. Since I did not cross it off of my February Bucket List, I decided to carry it over to March. Check out last month’s bucket list for more information about what inspired this element of personal development.
This month, I will be absorbing the energy that accompanies the start of a new season.
