Happy Friday, Ambitious Fam! It’s been an…interesting couple of weeks. Let’s just say that I am so ready for the end of Mercury retrograde in a few days because YIKES.
Here are five things that gave me all the feels this week:
Get Paid to Watch the Office!?
I know that I am not the only person that watches the Office on a loop. It is my favorite show to fall asleep to. It never fails to make me laugh, even though I have seen it a thousand times at this point. I even listen to the Office Ladies podcast, an Office rewatch podcast in which Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey break down each episode of the Office and provide behind the scenes commentary as two people who were actually on the show! If you are also an Office fan, then you may be interested in the opportunity to make $1,000 from watching the show! Dish launched a contest in which they will give the “ultimate Office fan” a bunch of cool prizes (including $1,000) to watch 15 hrs of the show over the course of 9 days. Sounds pretty ideal tbh. The deadline to apply is March 16th! Click here for more info!
How Pandemics Change History
With the hysteria surrounding the Coronavirus increasing, there has been a lot of coverage in the media about its implications and how to decrease your chances of infection. I found this article about the impact of pandemics on history featured in the New Yorker super interesting. We can already see the ways that the virus is having negative social, political, and economic effects. Click here if you are interested in reading the article.
As for decreasing your chances of infection, the CDC’s advice is to make sure that you are practicing good hand hygiene. The recommendation is to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, or to the tune of Happy Birthday twice. This week, I have come across other song choruses that meet the minimum time frame that you can sing instead. Here are a few of my favorites:
- U Remind Me – Usher
- Mr. Brightside – The Killers
- Love on Top – Beyonce
- Good as Hell – Lizzo
Happy hand washing!
I Love Me
In music news, Demi Lovato released a new song titled I Love Me today and honestly it was the song that I needed to hear this morning. Demi Lovato has always been very public about her struggles with eating disorders, body image, and drug use. Her latest song discusses how she is her own worst critic and how she wonders when “I love me is enough.” Sounds intense, but the song ends with a reminder that she is a 10/10 no matter what others think. The video is also very noteworthy as it includes nods to Demis past including appearances of her child acting days, Camp Rock (ft. Jonas Brother dupes), her Confident phase, and old relationships. Perfect Spring Amazon Find!
I was going to wait until this dress was properly photographed to share, but I couldn’t help myself. Yesterday I tried on the perfect spring dress and it was downright magical. Though it comes in different colors, pink was my obvious choice. It’s beautifully tiered, true to size, super comfortable, and can be worn in multiple ways! I’m sure that it will be featured many times on the blog and Instagram throughout the warmer seasons. Click here to purchase your own!
Ultimate Beyonce Homecoming Floor Routine
In case you missed this amazing, viral gymnastics floor routine that was perfectly set to Beyonce Homecoming, I’m sharing it here! UCLA gymnast Nia Dennis absolutely SLAYED the routine and received a much deserved 9.975 score. Even better? It was all on her 21st birthday! Watch the video below to see the magic for yourself.
