Hey, Ambitious Fam! As I type this, I can’t help but steal glances at the rainbow pastel-colored sky as the sunsets. In fact, I paused (even though it would cause me to miss my self-inflicted deadline) to watch the waxing moon appear in the sky. I find solace in taking time to appreciate the quiet moments of nature’s beauty, even if it is from inside the walls of my home. If you’re reading this, take a second to unclench your jaw, take a deep breath, and enjoy a moment of stillness with yourself.
Here are my reflections for the month of September:
One
At the beginning of September, I got the amazing opportunity to share my take on the practice of positivity and gratitude by presenting at the Community Cooperative’s Positivi-tea event. I shared my gratitude journaling tips while focusing on the importance of customizing your practice so that you will actually want to stick with it! I was beyond overwhelmed by the support that I received from my peeps that tuned in live or caught the replay. It was such a special experience to hear others share some of the happiest memories. The recording is still currently available on the Coop Shop if you are interested in checking it out!
Two
Lately, I have been trying to find creative ways to mend, reuse, or repurpose items in addition to finding new swaps as part of my sustainability journey. So far I think that it has been going pretty well! This month I did make two tangible sustainable swaps after I finished the products that I already had. The first was to try Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 Hemp Citrus Pure Castille Soap. I was first drawn in by recommendations to use it as a natural plant insecticide–it’s a clean formula that is vegan, cruelty-free, and biodegradable! I also used it to create a foaming hand soap by reusing a glass soap bottle that I already had! Only scratching the surface with the two uses so far.
My second swap occurred when I ran out of my avocado oil spray. Typically, I would just buy another can. This time I opted to purchase a refillable Misto Aluminum Oil Sprayer to reduce the number of cans that I go through. The first few oil streams were wonky, but it works well now!
Three
If you receive my Ambitious Weekly Newsletters (click here to subscribe for exclusive content) or tune into my Sunday Instagram stories, then you know that I have thoroughly enjoyed my #weekendwaffles series. Each week in September, I used my Pumpkin Mini Waffle maker to try different waffle creations. My favorites were definitely the Apple Stuffed French Toast Waffles (recipe here) and the Pumpkin Roll Waffles that I made using the rolls from Trader Joe’s.

This month I completed 5 out of 6 of the items on my September Bucket List. After researching more about hair porosity, I was actually more confused than when I was just trying to pay attention to what my hair likes. I’ll investigate further in the future, but I wasn’t able to officially check it off this time.
